SUMMARY:Orientering
DESCRIPTION:Free beginners instructions provided in ASL by Deaf Orienteering Instructors Patti and Mark Mace \n\n\n\nLocation Details: Park in the large parking lot to the south of St. Alphonsus Rodriguez Church on Old Court Rd. From the Marriottsville Rd exit of I-70\, go north on Marriottsville just 0.8 miles and then turn right on Old Frederick Rd (Rt 99). Go east 0.8 miles\, then turn left (north) on Woodstock Rd. In 2 miles the church will be on your left\, after Woodstock Rd has changed its name to Old Court Rd. \n\n\n\nWhat is Orienteering? Orienteering is the sport of navigating with map and compass. The object is to find a series of points shown on a map\, choosing routes — both on and off trail — that will help you find all the points and get back to the finish in the shortest amount of time. The points on the course are marked with orange and white flags accompanied by electronic or mechanical punches\, which provide proof that the point was visited. Each “control” marker is located on a distinct feature\, such as a stream junction or the top of a hill. \n\n\n\nThere are 8 courses from beginners to advanced. You choose which course would be best fit for you. Beginner course typically takes 45 minutes to complete while intermediate course typically takes two hours to complete. EVERYBODY ARE REQUIRED TO RETURN BY 3:00PM. \n\n\n\nAdmission Fee:  \n\n\n\nAdult Individual or Team: $15Free beginners instructions provided in ASL by Deaf Orienteering Instructors Patti and Mark Mace \n\n\n\nLocation Details: Park in the large parking lot to the south of St. Alphonsus Rodriguez Church on Old Court Rd.
